About Pinole, CA
Pinole is one of the cities in Contra Costa Located in California USA and the name Pinole was originated from a flower name made from seeds of chia, maize and several other annual and grasses herbs, a Native American word. According to the 2010 census, they have approximately 18,390 population. A voyage which has run out of provisions while exploring the area by Pedro Fages had been supplied by Pinole by the local citizen as well as the Spaniards called their camp El Pinole.

From the year 1823, the commandant of the Presidio of San Francisco named Don Ignacio Martinez received a land grant from the Mexican government. The land area grant was known as El Pinole and known to have an area over 17,000 acres. In the year 1824, Don Ignacio Martinez established his first adobe hacienda in Pinole Vallet around 2miles from San Pablo Bay on what on present day we called Pinole Park.
In the mid 1850’s someone named Bernardo Fernandez began a trading facility at the bay and established the earliest historic Fernandez Mansion. The mansion still exists in the present located at the end of Tennent Avenue. A few numbers of people grew and thriving in the city of Pinole from these early beginnings. Several structures from the earliest still stand as reminders of the colorful and happy past of Pinole.
One of the ancient Anglo American colonists located in Contra Costa County was named Dr. Samuel J. Tennent married to Rafaela (daughter of Ignacio Martine’s. The Tenets established their home in the year 1851 for about haft a mile from the Valley Road (Pinole Valley Road in the present) from the Tennent Ave. Creek Bridge of lumber that was shipped from Maine. Tennent with his wife Rafaela is the owner of most of the acreage in the area. In advantage through the wharf area of the Southern Pacific Railroad in the year 1878, the way was opened for all the California Powder Works to move into the adjacent waterfront what they called Hercules.
