About Rocklin, CA

Much of the growth in Rocklin City was within the last 30 yrs. The city has a very long story. When the mining started, Rocklin was recognized as the first destination in the year 1864, along the transcontinental railroad. In the year 1893, the city was incorporated during the granite mining activity and the heyday of the railroad. 22 quarries operated in Rocklin in the year 1910 and nearly 2,000 train carloads of granite in the year 1912 were transmitted out of the town to be used in buildings in San Francisco and to be part of the state capitol building.

Founded in 1855, the Spring Valley Ranch is located to the North of Rocklin’s core by the Whitney family. The family ranch included vastly different kinds of agricultural products like sheep. In a year, 12 granite bridges, barns, 25 miles of crushed stone roads, bridges, and approximately 200 houses for the same number of ranch hands including their families were all established on the 30,000-acre sprawl. At the present time, it is considered as the primary property in Rocklin.

The ranches of Whitney were finally sold out to different development interest as the development of suburban society to the northeast led from Sacramento, to the growth progression of the housing market in the city in the mid-1950’s and as early as the 1960’s. The result of this plan is really great because it developed the fine Sunset Whitney neighborhood, with a very beautiful golf course centered on it.

The Rocklin City is considered to have a lower cost of living in the beginning of mid-1980’s. As well as the land that brought high technology associations and other development industries to the region. It resulted great development when it comes to residential and commercial development, that includes the Stanford Ranch with a master plan of 3,000 acres for a community that’s part of their growing Spring Valley Ranch. A steady era of growth expanded in Rocklin City with an additional fine master plan of the area, and that includes Whitney Ranch with 1,300 acres, and Whitney Oaks with an approximately 1,000 acres.

Rocklin City has saved numerous primary bridges that were used to cross the creeks on the beautiful Spring Valley Ranch when the city of Rocklin evolved. It also has nice and cool architectural plan that includes bridges and attractive designed parks.

Rocklin is now almost at the end of its growth era. With the exception a very few large developments, no freedom for annexation and undeveloped parcels are changing their intentions to a long term sustainability from one of growth. Rocklin needs insurance that the City’s high quality of living will remain in the future. The focus shifting needs new ideas, new ways of creating new things but as well as offering new opportunities for everyone.

One of the City’s long term classical pattern is to look back at where it all began. The center of the city or currently known as the City’s Core. Historic Rocklin and Downtown area are prepared with a lot of opportunities for a new city development. It may only be a dot one the landscape, offering one of a kind assets, which are needed for a new society, recreational uses, and parks.

The history of Rocklin is almost tied to the railroad of transcontinental. The pacific railroad Act in the year 1862, granted the land near Secret Ravine called Central Pacific Railroad. The Central Pacific Railroad was completed in its expansion in the year 1864 of its tracks southwest to Secret Ravine from Newcastle.

The first post office in Rocklin was established in the 1868. Immigrants from Finland settled in Rocklin during mid-1870’s. Several Spanish also settled down from the way of Hawaii during the 20th Century.
