About Tracy, CA
Central Pacific Railroad (in the year 1869) or in the present time, is known as the Southern Pacific, completed a rail line in an area which is currently known as Tracy. The rail line runs over Stockton from Sacramento over the Altamont Pass and passes through ferry service to San Francisco. Soon as the line was established, a new city showed up nine miles from the city of Stockton and was known as Lathrop Junction. The city of Lathrop has several yards, hotels and roundhouse for railroad workers supplies. The society turned out to witness the railroad business center and the Central Pacific Railroad headquarters for San Joaquin Valley.
The construction of the Central Pacific Railroad lines, which runs through San Francisco Bay Area and Stockton from Sacramento, in the mid-19th century is related to Tracy’s origins. Several communities were developed along this line, which includes the Lathrop J. Tracy. Tracy was incorporated and grew extremely and bloomed as an agricultural area in the year 1910, even though the railroad operations started to decline in the mid-1950’s. Tracy’s growth became a real deal when people started to migrate to the city for more tranquil lifestyle. Several companies multiplied in the city because they found the city as an ideal place for their distribution facilities. Tracy is now a home to lots of distribution facilities as well as for those setting up newer industries, which includes the expansion of hi-tech companies from their current Silicon Valley areas.
A coaling station was necessary for the railroad at the Altamont Pass station 14 miles towards the west of Lathrop. They called the new station Ellis, which had some 45 buildings was established in the year 1870 by providing the necessary needs of the railroads as well as the employees including their families.
Establishment of new rail line began in the year 1878, through Martinez from Oakland of San Francisco Bay that connects the point three miles to the east Ellis in Central Pacific. The line was established to provide a greater efficiency by eliminating the expense of helper engines and by evading hills. The outcome of the new rail-line was founded on September 8, 1878 in Tracy, named for Lathrop J. Tracy, Mansfield, Ohio railroad director and grain merchant.
Two lines connected to Tracy were established and employees including their families started to move out from Ellis, and migrated to Lathrop as well to the new Tracy station. The Ellis town moved baggage as well to Tracy town, including their two hotels.
The growth of Tracy continuously expanded as a railroad center. The new line to get through to Los Angeles from Los Banos was the least expensive and the fastest line ever established. In March of 1894, the railroad headquarters was moved from Lathrop to Tracy, all the buildings and engines equipment of the railroad was moved as well. Moreover, the beginning of Tracy’s history is in fact from the railroad story. The city was incorporated and grew rapidly in the year 1910, prior to the irrigation district establishment in the year 1915. Even though, the railroad operation was declined in the 1950’s, Tracy survived and expanded their agricultural area. Nowadays, Tracy City is known from their history of agriculture and railroads.
Tracy City is near both infertile and fertile when it comes to agricultural lands. It is located in the Central Valley and has Mediterranean climate. Some of Tracy’s land in north and east has come to developing pressure because of the moist Delta river system, just like the San Francisco bay area’s dynamically population growth has spilled through Tracy area, just like the other locations like new town of Mountain House close by the Bay Area’s edge.
