There are several endangered and very rare species living in Vacaville area. Some are appealing animals and endangered charming plants that historically were developed in the vernal pool areas around and in Vacaville. Manuel Vaca and William McDaniel had an agreement in creating a nice residential area one mile from the area when William McDaniel purchased the land. On Dec. 13, 1851, the town called Vacaville was recorded and established. It was also incorporated as a city and was handed by Manuel Cabeza Vaca in August 1850 and by William McDaniel. On December 13, 1851, the town’s first plat was recorded.

The city used to be home to several different huge companies that were established and local farms that were developed because of the rich soil including The Nut Tree area in Vaca Valley.

Vacaville has an amazing historical past from the earliest people who lived and had explored the area. In more than 150 years, the city of Vacaville maintains the spirit that longs for changes, but still holding on to their traditional ancient culture. The city has a total area 74 Square kilometer or 28.6 square miles. Some 0.74% of the area composed of water and 99.26% of the area is land, excluding minor local creeks and the Putah South Canal, which are the only bodies of water that people find significant in the area, which also includes the Lagoon Valley Lake, measuring 105 acre.

The early people living in the valley staked out ranches, and afterwards, they began farming the land. Finally, this gave way to major production of agriculture. Once, the city of Vacaville was known as the fresh fruit capital of California that shipped nut and fruits around the nation. The Nut Tree was the reflection of these agricultural beginnings. The Nut Tree started out as roadside fruit vendors and became an outstanding restaurant complex that offered as oasis for people who travel in the middle of the Sacramento Valley and the San Francisco Bay for almost 75 years.

Vacaville has classic climate (Mediterranean) with dry, hot summers and wet, cool winters. One characteristic of California is the summer that can really get so hot and autumns with refreshing warm in the early part of the day but swiftly cool down as the wet division comes. Winter season is very cool and most of the time, foggy, yet milder compared to other regions. Spring is one of the best seasons in town with fairly mild temperatures and just a little rain.

The Vacaville city celebrates the Vacaville Fiesta Days yearly, in the downtown area. The occasion includes many different activities for young and old, alike. There is parade that features students from different school’s marching bands, there is also great gymnasts that show off their talent and even the electric car showcase and a lot more. During December, the town is having a celebration for the Tree Festival in the ice skating rink as well as the Tree Lighting Ceremony, and people from the valley gather downtown to check out 15m or 50-foot illuminated tree and have fun listening to the played music by Jepson Band, as well as horse-drawn carriage rides and hot chocolates.

Nowadays, Vacaville is a very lively, and vivid community. The city is also one of the most extremely growing areas of the nation. The life science in the world companies like Alza, Genentech, and Chironis are also based in the area.
