About Walnut Creek, CA

Walnut Creek is based in Contra Costa County of California. Close to the East Bay location of the San Francisco Bay Area, and of Oakland. Walnut Creek is not one of the largest city in the area, however, due to where it’s located, which is at San Francisco, Oakland-SR 24, its accessibility by BART the junction of I 680, the city serves as the cities neighboring hub. People of the city is very hospitality and lively, as of 2014, the population was approximately 67,673 people. One of the city’s attractions is the hundred-year-old construction buildings as well as the new remodeled that host entertainment venues, extensive retail establishments and some classic restaurants. Early Walnut Creek is associated with three Miwok Indians. The Volvon or people, who usually spell it as Bolbon, (Zuicun and Wolwon) at Mt. Diablo, the Saclan, whose area is extended to the Oakland, Lafayette, Rossmoor, Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Walnut Creek, and Danville.

Walnut Creek nowadays is based close by the prior site of four Mexican land grants. Some of these land donations measured two acres, and were owned by a very enchanting woman named Juana Sanchez de Pacheco, who made her two grandsons the successor of the land. Ignacio Sibrian was one of her grandsons, who established the earliest roof house in the year 1850. He named the grant next to the principal waterway, Rancho Arroyo de Las Nueces y Bolbones or what is currently known as Walnut Creek. A small agreement called The Corners united with the coming of Mexican American War following the coming of American colonists. The Corners was created prior to the place where roads from Lafayette and Pacheco met. In the present time, the earliest settlement of Americans can be found at the intersection of North Main Street and Mt. Diablo Boulevard. The earliest traveler, who established dwelling on the Walnut Creek bank is William Slusher in the year 1849, he called it Nuts Creek. Milo Hough of Lafayette, in the year 1855 established a hotel called Walnut Creek House in the corners. At the same time, several shops and stores were constructed, and after a year, the Shadelands Ranch was built by Hiram Penniman who laid out the valley site and today’s Main Street. After several decades’ town community decided to change the name of The Corners to a better Walnut Creek.

A United States Post Office was established on December 1862, people from the area was called Walnut Creek. Pioneer Homer Shuey laid out the downtown street pattern, as one part of his family’s huge and historic ranches of cattle that are still existing. Due to the Southern Pacific Railroad establishment of service in the town, Walnut Creek began to grow in the year 1891. The town and the surrounding area of 500 acres were incorporated in Contra Costa County as the 8th city

One of Southern Pacific railroad’s branch line ran over the Walnut Creek prior to year 1970. Runners, walkers and bikers used the East Bay Regional Park District’s Iron Horse Trail to run over branch line. Today, the line of the Bay Area Rapid Transit called Pittsburg Bay Point serves Walnut Creek with adjacent station to Highway 680.

The city took off in a new direction when the charming Broadway Shopping Center was established, which is currently known as Broadway Plaza, and is located in Contra Costa County. The population increased considerably to 9,903 people in 1960 from 2,460 people in 1950. Walnut Creek has been an area rich in an amazing history.
